Carve, print or paper?

For hero walls I still carve foam by hand: it gives you broken corners and depth no texture can match. The printable texture is great for back walls, interiors and test layouts, or as a guide to trace onto foam before you scribe.

Getting the bond right

• Running bond is what most 20th-century garages, shops and gas stations use.
• English and Flemish bond show up on older, solid brick buildings. Headers (the short ends) alternate with stretchers.
• Stack bond is mostly decorative and modern. Avoid it for a 70s scene.

Weathering tips

Grime runs down from window sills and roof edges, and damp creeps up from the ground. That's what the preview simulates. On a real build, add the same with a dark wash from the top and a green-brown pigment at the base.
