The orange and yellow parts in the last photo are the designs as they come out of Tinkercad. The beds in the photos are printed on my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

The lived-in bedding look

The mattresses come as solid files. To get the rumpled sheets and pillows you see in the photos, wrap the printed mattresses in ordinary facial tissue soaked in a mix of water and PVA (wood) glue. Shape the folds and pillows while it's wet, let it dry hard, then paint.

The slats are thin, so a fine setup pays off.

Filament (FDM)

  • Layer height: 0.1 or 0.12 mm
  • Nozzle: 0.2 mm is ideal for the thin rails; 0.4 mm works if your retraction is well tuned
  • Infill: 15–20 %, gyroid or grid
  • Supports: yes. Tree supports hold the upper bunk without fusing to the lower frame.

Resin (SLA/MSLA)

  • Layer height: 0.03–0.05 mm
  • Angle the frame 30–45° on the build plate so the long slats don't warp
  • Light or medium supports on the underside only, so the tips don't scar the surfaces where the mattresses sit
